 Our
in-house laboratory soils, concrete and geosynthetics testing capabilities
are summarized on the test schedules accessible from the links below.
We maintain current ASTM test procedures for tests conducted by
our
firm, and stay abreast of changes in methods along with new procedures
through our membership in the American Society for Testing and Materials
(ASTM). We are voting members of ASTM Subcommittee D35 responsible for
the generation of testing standards related to geosynthetics. Our laboratory
equipment is modern, calibrated at regular intervals and in
general conformance
with ASTM
standards.
Laboratory
test
results
are
issued in concise computer generated formats and graphics with supplemental
data acquisition reports available upon request. Our soils and geosynthetics
laboratory managers have a combined 42 years of experience and are in
turn supervised by a Registered Professional Engineer.
We
participate in the work of ASTM Subcommittee D35 which is developing
standard test methods for geosynthetics testing
including research efforts and round robin testing in this regard. Large
scale interface direct shear testing (12" x 12" box) of soil/geosynthetic
and geosynthetic/geosynthetic interfaces at normal pressures ranging
from 1 to
100 p.s.i. are a particular specialty using in-house designed equipment conforming
to ASTM standards. We
are one of a select few laboratories in the United States and Canada equipped
to perform this test, and have participated in a voluntary round robin testing
effort for ASTM to
develop a precision and bias criteria for this particular procedure (ASTM
D5321).
Our
soils and concrete laboratory testing capabilities have been approved
and previously certified by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and are
currently approved by AASHTO. We also participate in the AASHTO Materials
Reference Laboratory Proficiency Sample Program
for soils testing. We are considering an application for certification
of our geosynthetics laboratory through the Geosynthetics Accreditation
Institute (GAI), a division of the Geosynthetic Research Institute (GRI)
at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA.
